Follow Friday #20

Happy Friday everyone!
Yes, it’s that time of week again where bloggers unite to participate in the Follow Friday venture. The idea behind #FF is to promote traffic to your own blog, make new friends with other like-minded bloggers and discuss new and interesting topics each week.
Participating is simple. First you need to follow my blog because I’m totally awesome, then you can follow me on Twitter @kristyberridge (actually you don’t have to do this, it’s wishful thinking), but do follow my blog or assassins will get you …
Then you must follow our illustrious hosts Rachel of http://www.parajunkee.com/ and Alison of http://www.alisoncanread.com/ If you want more details on how to enter your own blog in the follow and hop, all directions are on their webpages
Now, once you’ve followed, check out my answer to this week’s questions and don’t forget to leave a comment so I can do the right thing and follow you back!

This week's question presented by Beefcakes and Babes is: I like unique names for characters and am looking forward to coming up with some when I start writing. What's the most unique character name you've come across?

Answer: I agree with Beefcakes and Babes answer of 'Renesmee' from Breaking Dawn. I mean I love those books, but I distinctly remember reading this name, sounding it out, putting the book down in my lap when I figured out the combination, and then bursting out laughing. It is literally the lamest name on the planet, and believe it or not, I've actually met a guy called Wayne Kerr.
For me personally, I recently read a great little series by PC Cast which I absolutely adore, but the male lead's name was Clan Fintan - absolutely ridiculous if I do say so. And, due to said stupid name, I found it really difficult to take him seriously. The fact that he was also half horse had absolutely nothing to do with it ...

Anyway, happy Friday and happy reading!

Kristy ;)

  5. True, Renesmee was just ridiculous. I always roll my eyes at traditional names, but weirdly spelled, like Faythe.

  7. I forgot about this until you mentioned Wayne Kerr, but I met a guy named Yu Bum Suk. I'm sure it is not really supposed to be pronounced like it looks but I couldn't hold back a giggle after meeting him.

    Following back. Happy reading!

  10. Hi Kristy! Thanks for stopping by. I completely agree with Renesmee. I didn't put it on my list because I knew it would be well represented on this hop. Lame is not a strong enough word for that name. It was like SM ran out of ideas so she just crammed a couple names together. It wasn't creative at all. It would be like naming a kid Brangelina or Bennifer.

    Have a great weekend!

  11. Thanks for the FF :) I think Renesmee is ridiculous. SOmetimes, though, a seemingly ridiculous name works for a character, like Terrible in Downside Ghosts.

    I'm following you back :)

  12. WAYNE KERR?!?! Seriously?! (excuse me while I laugh hysterically) That is awesome.

Isn't it funny how a name can make or break a character? I've found some that I'd have loved to connect to, but just couldn't because they had a lame name. Sad!

Thanks for stopping in & following...following back!

  13. Haha, yes they sound pretty weird. I take it you're not much of a fan of odd names. Clan Fintan does sound really stupid especially though!

  16. Hello, dear! Thank you so much for stopping by my blog. I'm following you back :) And yeah, Renesmee is pretty much the worst thing ever. I still don't understand how that happened. Where was her editor? It still just makes me cringe!

  19. I totally agree about Renesmee! It really says something about the name that I was more focused on how stupid it was than I was on an overnight vampire pregnancy in which the baby tears its way out of the mother.

Thanks for stopping by my post. New follower!
